Long-spined Spineflower (Chorizanthe polygonoides var. longispina)
Status:
No Federal listing status, California Native Plant Society List 1B species, El Sobrante Covered Species.
Habitat:
This plant is found primarily on heavy clay soils in open habitat such as coastal sage scrub, chaparral, grasslands, and meadows or clayish outcrops.
Range:
Western San Diego and Riverside counties, south into Baja California, Mexico.
Threats:
Habitat loss due to development and competition from non-native grasslands.
Population at El Sobrante:
Two small populations are present in the El Sobrante Preserve.
