San Diego Banded Gecko (Coleonyx variegates abbotti)

Status:
No federal listings status,California Department of Fish and Game Species of Special Concern, El Sobrante Covered Species.

Habitat:
Rocky chaparral and coastal sage scrub with nearby riparian or wetland components.

Range:
Coastal southern California east to the desert foothills and south into Baja California, Mexico.

Threats:
Loss of habitat and fragmentation, overuse of insecticides, off-road vehicle use, federal cats, fire ants, and genetic isolation.

Population at El Sobrante:
The exact number and distribution is unknown; it is uncommon in the Preserve.
