Cooper’s Hawk (Accipiter cooperii)

Status:
No federal listing status, California Department of Fish and Game Species of Special Concern, El Sobrante Covered Species.

Habitat:
Nest in oak woodland and mature riparian habitats, and also stands of eucalyptus trees.

Range:
Most of North America.

Threats:
Habitat loss related to urbanization and agricultural development.

Population at El Sobrante:
Nesting Cooper’s hawks have been observed in the eastern portion of the Preserve.
