Damon DeFrates
District Manager - El Sobrante Landfill
Mr. De Frates is the District Manager for the El Sobrante Landfill as well as three other facilities in the San Gabriel Valley. Mr. De Frates has more than 20 years of experience in the management of solid waste landfills and waste management systems. During his career with Waste Management, Mr. De Frates has managed facilities in Arizona, Hawaii, Oregon, Washington, and California.
Since December 2000, Mr. De Frates has been involved in the management of El Sobrante. During this time he guided the final permitting efforts for the landfill expansion and the creation of the El Sobrante Wildlife Habitat Preserve. Mr. De Frates has also guided El Sobrante’s community outreach program, investing time and resources into community events such as the Temescal Valley Community Faire, the local Municipal Advisory Committee to Riverside County Supervisor Bob Buster, and the annual fundraiser for the El Cerrito Volunteer Fire Department.
