Waste Management, combined with its wholly owned subsidiary Recycle America, is North America’s largest recycler, recycling enough paper last year to save more than 41 million trees
Our renewable energy projects create enough energy to power about 1 million homes and save the equivalent of about more than 14 million barrels of oil per year (or 3.6 million tons of coal)

Letter From Alex Braicovich
Fall is in full swing and it’s hard to believe how fast the holidays are approaching. Here at Waste Management Inland Empire, we’ve had a busy couple of months. Most notably, our team achieved a record 150,000 hours without a recordable injury. We celebrated everyone’s hard work at a picnic for employees and their families over the summer. The emphasis our team places on maintaining a safe work environment extends beyond the walls of our facility. In fact, as Manuel Santana, a WM employee for over 10 years, recently showed, you never know when you have to act quickly to respond to an emergency situation.
In the community, we’ve assisted with Operation Freedom Support, a collection drive organized by local volunteers in Moreno Valley to gather food items and toiletries for troops from the March Air Reserve Base about to be deployed to Iraq.
We also partnered with Wal-Mart over the summer for a successful event to collect fluorescent light bulbs from local residents. Fluorescent bulbs last longer than regular bulbs, but they contain mercury and cannot be disposed in landfills in California. This event helped drive awareness about safe disposal for fluorescent bulbs and other universal waste.
Finally, on a company-wide level, I am proud to share two notable achievements. First, Waste Management was named to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, a prestigious selection of companies judged on their global leadership in sustainability and economic performance. Secondly, WM also was recently recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation.
These are some of the activities happening at WM Inland Empire. For more information, please visit our website: www.keepinginlandempireclean.com.
Sincerely,
Alex Braicovich
