WASTE MANAGEMENT ENCOURAGES IE RESIDENTS:
Recycle and Buy Recycled

Inland Empire, CA, November 14, 2008 - Waste Management encourages all Inland Empire residents to renew their commitment to recycling and take the American Recycles Day (ARD) pledge on November 15. ARD began in 1997 and is the only nationally recognized day dedicated to encourage Americans to recycle and buy-recycled products. Throughout the years, residents in every state of the nation participated in the ARD campaign and pledged to increase their recycling habits at home and work.

WM provides residential customers with a recycling cart for materials such as, newspaper, cardboard, aluminum, plastics, etc. Commercial business customers can implement a co-mingled recycling program for weekly recycling services.

“We’ve made a commitment to our customers to be sustainable and responsible recyclers every day through the work we do in their communities, and we hope our customers will use America Recycles Day as an opportunity to resolve to recycle now and in the future,” said Damon De Frates, District Manager for El Sobrante Landfill in Corona.

“It’s one thing to say that we support recycling. It’s quite another to step up to the challenge. We at Waste Management recycle every day, and we encourage all Americans to learn more about the importance of recycling and November 15 is a great learning opportunity.”

While many items are recycled back into the same item, a number of materials can be recycled and used in making new products:

What goes in your recycling cart…
  • Aluminum & Plastic beverage containers
  • Steel and aluminum cans
  • Glass bottles and containers
  • Newspaper
  • Printer/copier paper

  • New aluminum and plastic beverage containers
  • New cars, bikes, appliances, cookware
